Biography

Claire Fearon is a successful contemporary British painter. Her widely acclaimed works in acrylic on canvas have sold to private collections in the UK and throughout the world. She has exhibited nationally and internationally including the respected Montserrat Gallery in New York City.

Between 2004 and 2006 Claire also set up and ran the very successful not for profit arts organisation Canvas. During this time Canvas raised almost £30,000 for various local and national charities. It also represented over 100 British artists via the Internet and the two Brighton based Canvas Galleries. It was nominated for a prestigious Brighton and Hove Business award, short-listed from over 500 businesses in the Best New Business category.

As well as her charity work Claire is renowned for her large bold singular circle paintings. Claire’s new work sees a departure from this striking image. Although the circle paintings were hugely successful she found the constant repetition of a single theme in her work suffocating and ultimately uncreative.

Her new work still retains the circular motif but is more fluid, expressive and daring. Claire says ‘for me it’s not about reproducing what I can see, I can take a photograph to do that. When it comes to painting I would always rather paint how I feel. That’s why I love abstract art; it really is a great way to express yourself. People can love or hate it but no one can tell you if it’s right or wrong.”

There is something of Abstract Expressionism in her paintings, no doubt because Claire lived and worked in New York for several years. A reminder of that aesthetic is found in the sensuality, vitality, simplicity and impact her work inspires.

"The addition of Claire's painting to our home has brought with it warmth and energy we didn't realise was previously lacking. Now the focal point of our living room, it is commented on by all who visit and deeply loved by those who live here. We cannot imagine our home without it." Alison Perry

Claire is also a qualified Aura-Soma colour therapist.
